Weird day. Nice day. Tiring day. I cut Liam's hair much much shorter. I still need to fix it more. Mark went to a friends bday party, and is spending the night. Mark went and got us a car o.O It's very nice. Quite, even. My parents came and got me and Liam and went to west beach for a while (first swim of the season, just a bit chilly at 66 degree water temp), then to Julie's uncle's house for a party. They live on a large wooded lot, with a prefabricated house on it. It's nice. I wouldn't have known it was a prefab if my brother hadn't told me so. Relaxing. Then Mark came and got me so we could get his truck from the dealership and get our car home. Liam is still at the party, with Julie, and Mark (the elder) has gone to bed. He is seriously wiped out. I can't imagine.

Trying to get ahold of little Mark. Just want to check in on him.

Did the NBA's Doug Christie nearly choke to death when his wife refused to allow a female doctor to assist him?

I've sneezed more than i've breathed this morning. Ugh. Out of control allergies. I took 2 claritin. I told Mark to stop taking his anti inflammitory medication because he's been puking 2 times a day because of it. He's got a different one so it's not worth the hassle.

I'm looking into the Highland twilight parade for this evening. Have to talk to the family and see what's up for the forth. Possibly hanging with Elsa's family, but most likely staying in the area with mine.

So Liam ended up having to take a nap yesterday. It was more punishment than the need for sleep. Again, attitude and then slamming the back door. But Mark talked to him when he got home. Explained that every time he gives me attitude, I will say 'you're grounded.' First offense from now on: 1 week no bike, no psp, having to stay on our property. Do it again while grounded: add on 2 more weeks. Nasty attitude=srs bzns. No more convincing him, reasoning with him, explaining endlessly. Mark pointed out to me that Liam KNOWS right from wrong, even if he's losing his mind in the moment HE KNOWS. So I don't have to explain it to him. If he's disrespecting me, he's grounded.

Mark has been preforming so well at work. (as usual.) He managed to save some accounts that were going to dump his company with his work and excellent customer relations skills. So Mark and one other guy will be paid for the 4th, even though they will be off. (his union does NOT pay holidays. Unless you are working.) VERY NICE to be recognized for an outstanding job!!

Maybe garage sale today on bikes? Let's see if we can get our stuff done first. Get ready for this lovely long weekend.

mmmtoast and uuuughparenting

  • Jul. 2nd, 2008 at 11:16 PM
lite toast sprayed withICBINB spray, and i mixed splenda into a half empty cinnemon shaker i had applied liberally (about the only time i lean liberal ;) makes a great bed time snack.

it never rained so i stayed in for nothing. mark no. 3 went to Joels house today and a baseball game and got home nineish or so.

watching supperninny i rediscovered one of my parenting flaws. instead of just laying down the law with punishments, i give the punishment then allow myself to be drawn into explainations of it, and then debates/ arguements. that may explain a bit why im in this hole with liam. i may have lost my authority. i ask the questions, i listen to the answers and i decide difinitively. the transition back is going to be rough. ive been getting run over for a few month and its time to make them RESPECT MY AUTHORITI as cartman would say. Parenting is hard (said in a whiney bratty voice)

toast over. see you on the flip side.

great america is kinda great.

where to start. Ken had us pick him up at the burger king because he has season pass and got us the expensive parking for free. Liam had a really awful bad disrepectful attitide on the way up and got grounded from his psp and his bike till friday. that should tell yu how bad it was, and it was marginally better while we were there, and sometimes it was ok. at the end it was fine.

stinky stinky indian people. whats that about??? and thefood in the waterpark is the worst. s lets get the negatives over with then. Lets talk about the new coaster, DarkNite. Now I like rollercoasters. This one think: little kids rollercoaster, ages 9 thru 12, put into a mild carnival spookhouse setting. 2 hours wait, with little mark. this was going to be his first big coaster. Demon is way better than this. Truly boring and sucky. For rhe love of cheese, skip it and go on the tilt a whirl. disappointed because he committed to it, picked it, and was excited.

ok. had pbj for dnner in the van. then, my mom went on the giant drop with me! the kids went on the teacups. That ride is krazy adrenaline. U r sureu R gunna die. My mom loved it too. then the kids went on theold fashioned cars while me and mom went on american eagle, one of the last wooden coasters in existence. That one is pure fun. then we forced the kids to go on this ride, a cross between a gravitron and a tilt a whirl danmgled from a pole. it was cool, the kids were pissed and crying because we made them. but in the car mark said he would probably do it again next year. then capped it off with the Demon. I got the crazy mic operator to sing happy birthday to him, only he sang it in a growly voice, from the demon. very funny. the evening ended well. i wasnt as in to hurricane harbor likein past years. i think liams attitide and combativeness kinda ruined it for me. but thepark was way fun, especially since my mom was up for anything oncei got her going.

i could use some food that doesnt suck and doesnt involve jelly.

a lot of good swim shoes do me if i have no idea where they are when i need them. ill try again in the morning.

an edit to my last post. 77th is th same as calumet ave, not joliet. 77th intersects joliet. onward.

my mother is takingus to great america tomorrow. we were supposed to go yesterday but mom managed to injure herself playing softball. i may have mentioned that already. but tomorrow will be hotter, and q101 wont be there with bands and live broadcasting so im hoping for lighter crowds. lunches are in the fridge along with water and pop. tickets packed,as to avoid a repeat of a couple of years ago when we got out of ttown b4 we realized mark didnt put them in his wallet as i reminded him to.

and yeah, i should be asleep already buti was messing around on the electra bikes website again. dang it, that site gets finicky due to its fancy assed nature.

the lunesta is kicking in so its goodbye cruel worl time, and im gunna check out for 8. probably more like 7. maybe ill go european and not shave my legs tomorrow. who gives a crap anyways. if mark were coming i would.
Happy Birthday Liam!!! He is 10 today. Mark went to his friends, and Liam and I rode our bikes to McDonald's for lunch, where he got his first ever Big Mac, and then to game stop, where he spent his birthday money and a bit of our money too on 3 psp games and a case for the thing. I can tell he is going to take excellent care of it.

After that we decided to try and find a park so he can play his new games and I can read my book, My Prison Without Bars, by Pete Rose. So we hit a neighborhood in Dyer to see what we could find. A lot of red convertables. Big new houses. No parks. We go farther and farther. Some off roading. To a tiny park at 77th and St. John Rd. Not close to us at all. I think 77th and Joliet road is the same thing.

I did get a new bathing suit yesterday at Target. A halter one piece with a small modest skirt. in black. Tres chic. Later.

Funny

  • Jun. 29th, 2008 at 2:38 PM

My four year old son has gotten hooked on reruns of "America's Funniest Home Videos".  Personally, I hate the show...I don't need to see someone getting hit in the crotch on a weekly basis.  Here's the genius part:  He has his own name for the show.  He calls it:

"America's Most Embarrassing Minutes".

I still smile every time he says it.  I cracked up hard the first time.
